Getting the most from your treatment
These notes were written to give advice to maximise your treatment.
Facials
We can of course remove any make you have on, but so you can have more time in your facial spent on the lovely parts of an Elemis facial of face, head, shoulder & décolleté massage, or more time spent on the steam & extraction (should you need them) of a deep cleanse facial, it would be beneficial for you to arrive with no make up on. Please advise your therapist if you do not want to get oil in your hair, though we recommend going with the flow and enjoying all the luxuriant oils.
Laser Facials
The most results driven of the facials for pigmentation, scarring and ageing skin, these are not appropriate for people with darker skins as the rays target melanin and could lead to discolouration. Clients cannot have a sun tan and must have a consultation and patch test (free of charge) prior to a Laser Facial treatment.
Manicures & Pedicures
We can of course remove any polish you have on, but so you can have more time in your manicure or pedicure spent on massage, cuticle work and nail shaping, it would be beneficial for you to arrive with no polish on, it is not obligatory, just a suggestion.
Pedicures
Bring flip flops to wear afterwards or you risk smudging your lovely new toe nail paint. We are sure you have all painted your own nails at some time, you know how long it takes to dry. Don’t risk it! Bring flip flops please! To really achieve better nails and achieve the look you desire we do recommend on going manicures and pedicures. Sometimes how long a varnish lasts can depend on the condition of your nails.
Waxing
Unfortunately we cannot give you perfect supermodel eyebrows, or remove every single hair in one treatment (hair grows in different stages) so you may have to make a commitment to return to achieve the results you want. The more you wax, the weaker the re growth is. Result!
Please be aware that very rarely ‘skinning;’ can occur, where the very fine top layer of skin is removed. This looks like a minor abrasion, and will usually clear up in a couple of days. If this occurs please contact us so we can advise you.
Mens Waxing Chest & Back
These areas can often react to waxing, to minimise the chance of discomfort, for a few days before your appointment exfoliate the area to prepare the skin. After your treatment keep the area cool, clean and sweat free so wear clean cotton loose fitting T-shirts and avoid exercise, swimming or sports for 24-48 hours. Use a shower/skin wash that contains anti-bacterial properties, and a tea tree or witch hazel based moisturiser. After a few days start to gently exfoliate the skin using an exfoliating wash cloth.
Tinting
A patch test is required by law 24 hours in advance. It is always worth trying tinting of eyebrows and eyelashes, especially if you are fair. But on some people, if the hair is already quite dark it may not have the ‘mascara’ look you were hoping for. You need to have the treatment and see if YOU feel it is worth while.
Tanning
To achieve an even tan it is best if your skin is prepared. A few hours before your spray tan have a shower and use a non oily body exfoliator. Please arrive with no make on. Wear baggy clothing and you won’t be able to put your bra back on after the spray tan! We provide a cap to protect your hair, and knickers to wear, but you can of course keep your own knickers on if you prefer. We would recommend having a late appointment (we are open until 8pm Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, and 7pm on Friday) and not showering until the morning the after (but there is an express developing one which you can shower off after 3 hours if you prefer). When you shower, you may be surprised by the green/brown colour which flows off your body, this is entirely normal and you will be left with a lovely tan.
Laser hair removal
Laser therapy produces light rays that heat in order to “burn” the hair follicle without injuring the skin. The laser needs to ‘see’ the follicle, so please be aware Laser works best on dark hairs. It will take 6-8 treatments (discounted packages are available) but you will need to make a commitment to return to complete a course. Laser hair removal cannot be performed on skin that is tanned, real or fake.
Electrolysis
This treatment deals on individual hairs, so entirely suited facial hair that you really don’t want. On a consultation your therapist will be able to advise you on the length of your treatments as it vet much depends on which type of hair removal you have previously used.
Body Treatments
No real preparation is needed for this apart from coming to us make up free and clean. Please be aware these treatments often involve a shower, you will really feel like a new person after a body treatment. Please advise your therapist if you do not want to get oil in your hair, though we recommend going with the flow and enjoying all the luxuriant oils.
